10 Spanish Songs That Will Excite Your Kids!
(Last Updated On: October 10, 2022)

Are you looking for new ways to learn Spanish with your child? There are so many methods that you can use, but listening to songs in Spanish is a fun and effective way to get more Spanish language time into your day!

My daughter and I spend a lot of time listening to nursery rhymes, our favorite podcasts, and the Spanish books on tape that we have.

I quickly realized, however, that I’d need more audio materials to supplement our rides. We were listening to the same things over and over again and I was singing “Cucu Cantaba la Rana” in my sleep!

I spent a lot of time searching for Spanish songs that were high quality, fun for my daughter and also tolerable for me! In this article I’ll share some of our favorite Spanish Disney songs and what we like about them.

If you’re looking for Spanish songs that are not Disney related, check out this awesome article here that goes through tons of top Spanish songs that are appropriate for kids and also popular right now!

Amazon Music

I had recently gotten a subscription to Amazon Music and decided to use it to search for music in Spanish and, since I’m a big Disney fan, I decided to look for all of the Spanish Disney music that I could find and see what was available.

4 Secrets To Learning A Language With Audiobooks

It turns out that Amazon Music has a decent selection of original Disney music in Spanish and that I was in luck! I quickly made a few playlists with my favorite Disney songs so that we could listen along in the car.

One day, when we were at the library, we took out Mulan on DVD and brought it home to watch. I switched the audio to Spanish and we settled in on the couch.

As soon as we got to the first song “Reflejo” I was shocked – the words were completely different from the song we’d been singing in the car!

Different Translations

After some researching online, I found that Disney DVDs (and Netflix shows) that are released in the United States automatically come with the Latin American Spanish version of Spanish audio on them. I also found that Disney does different Spanish translations for their Latin American releases and their Spanish releases in Spain. This may be obvious to you, but I had no idea that there were completely different translations available!

I know that there are some people who prefer that their child speak one version of Spanish over the other and there are many reasons why. I didn’t have a plan or a preference over teaching my daughter Latin American Spanish or Spanish from Spain and I still don’t. We continue to buy books that are published in various Spanish speaking countries, listen to music produced in Spain and Latin America and work on learning as many Spanish words as possible.

While I’m not looking to teach my daughter one version of Spanish over the other, I decided that the Disney music that I’d look for would just be the Latin American Spanish versions so that it would match the audio she would hear in the movie. With that in mind, the Disney songs that I’m sharing today are all the Latin American Spanish versions, though Amazon music has both for many of Disney’s feature films – so enjoy!

Why I Like Disney Songs

I think that listening to Disney songs in Spanish is a valuable resource for our family. Disney does a wonderful job of translating and preserving the quality of their songs, maintaining rhymes, puns, and vocabulary where they can.

While the quality of the translation doesn’t affect it’s value for our Spanish language, it makes the songs more enjoyable for me as they so closely resemble the English versions that I grew up with.

The Disney songs are also a change of pace form nursery rhymes in that they have an appeal for older children and tie in well with the movies that are available.

Nursery rhymes are important for building foundational language skills but the Disney songs serve a different function.

The tie in between the Disney songs and the franchise of the movies, characters, and theme parks adds a layer of Spanish engagement for children.

Connecting their enthusiasm and engagement for the movies by listening to the songs in Spanish will help to build their Spanish language skills and keep the Spanish learning relevant for them.

10 Of Our Favorite Disney Songs!

1. No Se Habla de Bruno (Encanto)

This song has been a huge hit in our home as with the rest of the “Encanto” soundtrack. We regularly listen to the whole album in the car! Here’s one of our favorites:

2. Libre Soy (Frozen)

Seriously, who doesn’t love “Frozen”? This song is a really great Spanish translation of a huge fan favorite and the lyrics are great for helping your budding Spanish speaker to get some new vocabulary!

3. Cuan Lejos Voy (Moana)

Lin Manuel Miranda does an amazing job with all of the songs that he’s worked on with Disney and this one is no exception. We enjoy the whole “Moana” soundtrack in Spanish but this is my daughter’s favorite.

4. Algo Quiero (Tangled)

Are you someone who likes to watch through the credits of a Disney movie to hear the final song at the end? This is the song that plays at the end of the Disney movie, “Tangled” and it’s our favorite by far!

5. Un Poco Loco (Coco)

Each year we have an annual “Coco” viewing on Dia de los Muertos. Even though this isn’t the main song from the film, it’s our family’s favorite. If you have Amazon music you can download the whole album in Spanish and enjoy all of the songs.

6. Colores En El Viento (Pocahontas)

Another classic! Also, this song is very different depending on the Spanish translation that you get so if you’re interested in watching the movie, make sure you listen to the translation that matches.

7. Busca Lo Más Vital (Jungle Book)

“Libro de la Selva” is a fun movie for kids and we happen to have the book on tape version and my daughter really enjoys it. This song is featured on the audiobook so we also have it on various Disney playlists that we have.

8. Principe Ali (Aladdin)

This is another movie that has a lot of great songs translated into Spanish! Definitely check out the complete soundtrack – but here’s one of our favorites.

9. Yo Quisiera Ya Ser El Rey (The Lion King)

The Disney movie with some of the best music! This is one of our top Disney songs to listen to in Spanish. It took us a while to figure out all of the lyrics, but it’s definitely worth adding to your playlist.

10. Hasta Vencer (Raya y el Ultimo Dragon)

Remember how I said that I like to listen through the credits? This is a great Spanish song that was released with “Raya” and is featured during the credits of the movie. It’s definitely worth a listen and if you have a chance, check out Danna Paola. She sings this Spanish version and has some other great Spanish songs that are appropriate for kids.
