5 Approved Spanish Songs Your Big Kid Will Love!
Songs are an amazing way to practice your Spanish! They’re catchy, easy to memorize and introduce you to new vocabulary and verb tenses that you might not be used to hearing.
If you’re a non-native speaker and you’re looking to practice a language with your child, singing is the perfect way!
The Research:
Research shows that singing back phrases helps to log them in your long-term memory. One study done showed that adults who sang back songs in foreign languages outperformed those who just practiced routine speaking. Check out the study here:

Singing helps the muscles in your mouth develop a natural rhythm and memory for the words and phrasing.
Memorizing songs also helps you to add new phrases and words into your vocabulary and it can help you with the pronunciation of those words.
So now you know why it’s important,
what are you going to listen to???

Older children are often more interested in pop music and what’s on the radio. They’re looking for a more hip beat and more mature themes – but maybe they’re not ready for “Despacito” yet!
This Disney series has been a big hit in our family! While we don’t watch the show, we are avid listeners of their original hit music which has some great lyrics.
Violetta
“Violetta” is a great Disney original TV show that originally aired in Spanish. The show follows teenage Violetta as she develops her singing career at music school.
This show is bursting with original music and it’s super high interest for tween audiences.
Like I said earlier, we haven’t seen the show, but we’ve heard almost all of the songs that have been released.
Martina Stoessel is the voice of Violetta and she has become a household name as she also does various other translations of Disney songs including “Libre Soy” (Let it go) as Elsa.
Check out some of our favorite songs!
