Improve Your Kid’s Spanish With This Free and Popular Podcast

Today I want to share another podcast that we’ve used to hear native Spanish. This podcast is also produced by Radio Nacional de Espana.

“Contando Cuentos en R5” is a Spanish podcast that releases narrated short stories biweekly and is perfect for listening to as a family!

Interesting Stories:

Contando Cuentos is all about children’s stories, but they’re not traditional. You won’t hear versions of “Little Red Riding Hood” here, or other often retold classics. Most of these stories are original and include animals and magic as well as important themes like friendship and problem solving. The variety of the stories exposes you and your child to a lot of new vocabulary and phrases that may be less common.

Quick Listen:

Unlike some shows and podcasts that are a half hour long, Contando Cuentos is a quick listen – averaging between 5 and 8 minutes per episode. The brevity of the stories makes them perfect for a quick listen before bed or a short car ride. The ability to listen anywhere and the more frequent releases make this podcast a great option for Spanish listening during the week.

If you’re in the car or even in your living room at home and looking for some more Spanish immersion, this podcast is a great way to listen and practice with the whole family! New episodes are released on Tuesday and Saturday night in Spain and become available soon after.
